About Our Club

Founded in 1951, The Gandhi Nagar Club started as a tennis club to meet the sporting needs of the residents of Gandhi Nagar and surrounding areas. As one of Chennai's first planned neighbourhoods, Gandhi Nagar stands out as a premier residential area and the Gandhi Nagar Club continues to retain its status as one of Chennai's finest social clubs.

While GNC remained a tennis club for the first four decades of its existence, in the early 90's, a group of founder members decided that the club should expand from being a tennis club to a full fledged social club to move with the times. The expansion project was launched with the support of the members and the beautiful club, as it stands today, was built. The founders ensured that every facility that would meet the needs of the members were part of the project – shuttle court, squash court, library, restaurant, bar, swimming pool, snooker & billiards, gymnasium and a whole lot more besides tennis courts, of course.

GNC today is home to over 2000 members including judges, doctors, lawyers, industrialists, stock brokers and business men and women of every hue. The Club is a vibrant, family friendly space that is very well utilized on a daily basis. With its emphasis on sports, it is home to many top sportsmen and women across sports. Its facilities are widely considered to be the best in the City with the Swimming pool and tennis courts being considered the bench mark in Chennai city.
